Any Joy

There’s a light on a distant shore
And in his mind there’s still that open door
He will try to change her mind
Hoping that all wounds will heal with time
Now every day is all he has
Just tryna make sense of what’s just passed
And he’s learnt heartbreak teaches more about love
Than any joy could do
He falls asleep for an hour or so
Wakes up remembering that he’s now on his own
He cuts his hair and he shines his shoes
As though these small things might take away his blues
Now every day is all he has
Just tryna make sense of what’s just passed
And he’s learnt heartbreak teaches more about love
Than any joy could do
Oh and I never knew ‘bout love until that time I saw him
Sitting alone in the dark with his smoke I think he was mourning
Yeah he was broken inside because he found she no longer adored him
Just lamenting it all ‘cos the rest of the world seemed so boring
And he won’t go back home, he’s waiting for his telephone
To ring and say “I made a mistake, and I want you back in my arms today”
She says in this dream that he is having now
Now every day is all he has
Just tryna make sense of what’s just passed
And he’s learnt heartbreak teaches more about love
Than any joy could do

Lullaby

Lying here, you fit so well in my arms
This comfort I before never have felt
As the day gives in and passes on to the moon
Who shines his light, and it catches your eyes
And I can’t try to describe to you
What I’m seeing no words would do
But I’ve just started believing
That I might never be leaving
Not so long as you look like you do now
Now the day is done our cares have gone
We’ve got nothing left to do this night is ours
And as your eyes they close, your breathing slows
And you drift away your head it falls on my chest
And I can’t try to describe to you
What I’m seeing no words would do
But I’ve just started believing
That I might never be leaving
Not so long as you look like you do now
And all the best technology
Couldn’t fabricate what I see
I’ll stay awake to watch you sleep the moon and you my company
And I can’t try to describe to you
What I’m seeing no words would do
But I’ve just started believing
That I might never be leaving
Not so long as you look like you do
If only you could see what I see
But you’re sleeping, sweet dreams my love

Someday Soon

She is apprehensive as she leaves to find her love
Jets out across the ocean and it’s he she’s dreaming of
Nothing seems more perfect, away from everyone
Yeah and soon enough she’ll be there locked tight in his arms
She smiles knowingly, but who’s she trying to kid
This might not be the dream that she thought it would
But for now it’s good
The perfect date went pear-shaped, it was hardly as she’d planned
He said he’d found another and become another man
And she was left there helpless, and to this broken girl
It seemed the tables on her had turned, now it was her against the world
She composes herself, and as though no one could tell
Her head high she held
She’s coming home again
Ohhh he had all the best intentions at his heart
And perhaps he should have told her from afar
But he wont want to tell his new love, that it hurts
And that he’ll always have a space inside for her
And whilst he couldn’t love her any more, he just can’t love her anymore
And she couldn’t love him any more, but he just can’t love her anymore
And so she sits here, and thinks about
Her next move ohh where to now?
And though this pain means she can’t move on
Someday soon it’ll all be gone
Trust me, someday soon it’ll all be gone
